I adore Concubine Xi. She's my favorite female character except for our heroine, Qing Chuan. Because she's ruthless and smart and awesome. I bet she won't come to a good end (not a spoiler just speculation based on the fact that historically nobody came out happy out of this except for Four) but for now, rock on, lady!!!!

1. You know, Emperor Kang Xi really needs to talk to his punishments deparment. That was the most inefficient way to flambe anyone ever. I know the Inquisition used to burn people by piling dry wood and kindling around their body, so they'd either die from smoke inhalation or burn fairly quickly.
